Volunteers who serve at Mass and have minimal contact with children (Ushers; Lectors; EMHCs; Coordinators and adult Servers) must review and acknowledge that they have received the following document:
The 5:00 PM Sunday evening Mass at Holy Angels is back - which means we are in need of liturgical ministers! If you are a trained liturgical minister and want to volunteer, please click to be directed to MSP. If you know someone who isn't currently signed up on Ministry Scheduler Pro, please contact Bryan McGookey at bmcgookey@sanduskycatholic.org.
We are always happy to welcome those who would like to be part of our liturgical ministries. Please see the descriptions and contact information below for each ministry.
Our parish is blessed with many talented musicians and vocalists, and we are always looking for more participants in this wonderful ministry of praising God and leading our parish family in song during our liturgies.

If you are interested in being part of a parish choir, funeral choir, or being a cantor, please contact the parish music director:
Altar Servers serve at each parish by reverently assisting the celebrant and/or deacon during Sunday Mass and at special liturgies throughout the year. Children may begin serving in fourth grade. Please encourage your children to assist.
Adult altar servers are also welcome to serve at each parish during weekday and funeral Masses.
If you or your child are interested in serving, please call the parish office.

Mass Coordinators make sure that everything is in place prior to Mass. They assure that all lectors, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, altar servers, and gift bearers are present and prepared for the liturgy. They help gather the weekly collection and assist in tidying up after Mass.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass. When the Sacred Scriptures are read in the Church, God himself speaks to his people, and Christ, present in his word, proclaims the Gospel.
Lectors must be comfortable reading and speaking clearly and understandably in public. Practicing parishioners who are in good standing and have clear voices are encouraged to inquire about proclaiming God's word for daily and weekly Masses.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) assist the priest in distributing the Sacred Body and Blood of Jesus Christ at Mass. Extraordinary Volunteers must be practicing and supporting members of the parish and must be trained. They may also assist in bringing the Eucharist to the sick and home-bound.
The Diocese of Toledo is now allowing EMHC to resume bringing the Eucharist to our homebound parishioners. The best prudent practical pastoral judgment should be used in arranging these visits. Many of the homebound or their families may not be comfortable with a home visit at this time. Their concerns should be respected. Also, out of concern for the well-being of the homebound, we should take all the necessary care and precautions to ensure that visits are carried out as safely as possible. Although this will mean extra vigilance, our homebound brothers and sisters deserve this concern for their health and well-being.
There is no requirement or expectation that you bring the Eucharist to those that you normally visit. I only ask that you let me know one way of the other so I know which homebound parishioners are or are not receiving a visit.
YOU SHOULD ONLY DO SO IF YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE AND IF YOU ARE NOT AT A GREATER RISK.
If you do wish to make visits,
please notify Deacon Phil Dinovo and then please contact the person for which you are assigned and ask them if they are comfortable with having you visit. Whether or not you do make in-person visits, please contact the person you are assigned and check-in with them to see how they are doing and to pray with them.
The best time to access the Church to obtain the Blessed Sacrament is immediately after any Mass. Please note that, for the foreseeable future, we will not be calling you forward during Sunday Mass to get the Pyx off of the tray. You may, however, come at other times when the Parish office is open. (Please note that, because of Adoration at Holy Angels, it would be best if you go to St. Mary's or Sts Peter and Paul to get the Host.)
Please read certain guidelines that must be followed in order to keep the homebound safe as well as you:
• Visits to the homebound should be made on an individual basis.
A minister should not make visits to multiple homes, one after another. • An Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion should arrange with the pastor/administrator/pastoral leader for access to the Blessed Sacrament and the procurement of a pyx and burse for the visit. (See below regarding procedures at the Sandusky Catholic Parishes.)
• All ministers should practice the best prudent practical pastoral judgment concerning social distancing and face coverings/masks during the visit.
• All ministers should wash/sanitize their hands before and after a home visit.
• Pyxs should be properly purified and washed after each visit, preferably with hot soapy water.
Proper and reverential manner in which to transport the Most Holy Eucharist: • The Sacred Host is to be placed in a pyx that is then placed inside a burse that is worn around the neck. A pyx is not to be carried in pockets/purses or placed in a glove compartment, cup holder, or anywhere else inside a vehicle. (If you do not have a burse, please contact Deacon Phil Dinovo)
• The EMHC is to follow the liturgical norms and rites set forth by the Church regarding the manner in which Holy Communion is distributed to the sick and homebound.
• The EMHC is to wear attire that reflects the reverence due to the Most Holy Eucharist.
• Pastors/Administrators/Pastoral Leaders are to ensure that all of these necessary procedures are carried out with proper decorum and dignity.
Mass Greeters is a new tri-parish ministry and fill the crucial role of serving as the "first face" of the parish by greeting parishioners as they enter the church, help answer any questions, distribute parish bulletins after Mass, and manage the collection.
